Shopping Malls in Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai’s shopping malls have something to offer everyone. Whether it’s high-end fashion, traditional hand-made goods, drinks with a view of the city, or simply catching a film at the cinema to escape the afternoon heat, you’ll be able to do it at Chiang Mai’s main shopping centers. More than just a place to shop, you’ll also find plenty of entertainment and dining options to choose from as well.

Smaller and less extravagant than Bangkok’s megamalls, these shopping centers still have plenty to offer visitors. Get out of the heat and enjoy some shopping, food, and entertainment in one of Chiang Mai’s many excellent malls! Take a look at the list below to get to know more about each one.

Chiang Mai Shopping Malls

1. Maya Lifestyle Shopping Center

The Maya Lifestyle Shopping Center is located in the heart of Nimman Road, which is a hip, trendy area filled with shopping, entertainment, and restaurants. The mall itself is one of Chiang Mai’s newest major malls and features a sleek, futuristic design to match the area’s exciting atmosphere. Shoppers will be happy to find plenty of fashion and apparel shops to peruse.

Once you have your fill of shopping, you can sate your appetite at one of The Maya Lifestyle Shopping Center’s many restaurants or quench your thirst and enjoy unparalleled views of the city from one of the rooftop bars. The mall is also home to a cinema where you can see the latest popular films.

Location: Maya 55 Moo 5, Huay Kaew Road, Nimmanhaemin

2. Nimman Promenade

Chiang Mai’s Nimmanhaemin Road is known as the city’s lively shopping drag. The Nimman Promenade is a small stretch of that road known for eclectic shops and cafes. Whether it’s high fashion or quirky handmade goods, you can find it all here. Many of the shops specialize in high-end women’s fashion, including clothing, shoes, and other apparel. However, you’ll also find shops selling Lanna art, antiques, and other handicrafts.

Location: Nimmanhaemin Soi 4, Chiang Mai

3. Central Festival Chiang Mai

As Chiang Mai’s largest shopping mall, the Central Festival Chiang Mai occupies over 70 acres of land and is practically an entire city unto itself. The mall features an impressive array of international fashion brands including H&M, Topshop, and Zara. When you get your fill of shopping, you can grab lunch, ice cream, or refreshments at one of the mall’s dozens of restaurants. If you’re looking to relax and unwind with something other than shopping, you can check out a film at the cinema or even do some skating at the ice rink on the top floor!

One word of warning is that the mall is a bit out of the way for tourists; since it’s not located in an area that is either central or walkable, you’ll have to grab a taxi for a 15-minute ride. It’s worth it though!

Location: 999/9, Moo 4, Super Highway Road, Fa Ham, Chiang Mai 50000

4. Central Plaza Chiang Mai Airport

Just as the name it implies, the Central Plaza Chiang Mai Airport is within striking distance of the Chiang Mai International Airport in the southwest corner of the city. Its proximity to the airport means it’s a popular destination for tourists and visitors in need of some retail therapy. In fact, a couple of nearby hotels offer free shuttle service to the mall, so transportation is simple and reliable; yu can shuttle from Amora Thapae, Centara Duangtawan, Holiday Inn, Imperial Mae Ping, Suriwong Hotel, Royal Princess, and Empress.

Home to plenty of fashion stores, visitors will easily be able to find anything they’re looking for in terms of clothing, apparel, and accessories. There are a couple of designer brands here, but that’s not what this mall is primarily known for. The mall’s most unique feature is the “Lanna” style market that sells all sorts of handcrafted goods.

If you’d like to grab a bite to eat, you can stop at one of the restaurants or find something in the expansive food court. And if you’re looking for something fun to do that doesn’t involve shopping, you can check out the top floor to see what’s playing at the cinema or play some games with your friends at the arcade.

Location: 252/1 Mahidol Road, Haiya, Muang District, Chiangmai 50100

5. Kad Suan Kaew Department Store

Kad Suan Kaew has the venerable title of Chiang Mai’s oldest mall. It doesn’t have quite as many international fashion brands as some of the newer malls, but this would be an ideal place to do some bargain hunting. Quieter than some of the larger, newer malls in the city, it’s also an appealing place to shop if you’d like to get away from the hustle and bustle of large crowds.

If you get hungry, the mall houses a recently revamped food court that serves everything from traditional Thai dishes to Western comfort food. There’s also a grocery store on the bottom floor in case you’d like to stock up on some essentials. When you finish shopping, you can even have a beer and play a few rounds of bowling on the top level.

Location: Central Kad Suan Kaew 21 Huaykaew Rd, Mueang Chiang Mai District

6. Promenade Resort Mall Chiang Mai

Nestled in a quiet suburban area in the southwest corner of the city, the Promenade Resort Mall features shopping, a cinema, dining, and activities for kids. The mall is known for its unique architecture and even features small ponds replete with peaceful fountains and fish.

In addition to apparel stores, you’ll also find a supermarket, coffee shop, and a cinema. Since the mall is about 25 minutes outside of town, it’s quieter and not as crowded as some of the centrally located shopping hubs. If you’re looking to relax with some quiet shopping and a coffee, this is the place to do it.

Location: 192-193 Moo 2, Tumbon Tasala, Amphur Muang Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai 50000
